What’s in the NELI resource kit?
The NELI resource kit includes a comprehensive pack of physical resources to support with delivering the NELI intervention to pupils. It includes:
- Two programme handbooks which provide teaching plans for each of the group sessions for the 20-week programme.
- Engaging materials including flashcards are provided to support with key vocabulary development and story cards for the narrative activities.
- And most importantly, Ted the puppet, who is always a big hit with the children.

LanguageScreen Assessment
LanguageScreen is a simple digital assessment that is used to measure the language skills of children as well as identify those children who may show delays in their language development. It is a simple-to-administer, tablet based assessment that takes less than ten minutes per child to administer. Results are available instantly with no paper marking or upload required.
Group Sessions
Each group session is 25-minutes and follows a structured routine including a listening game, vocabulary instruction and narrative or story telling activities.
Individual Sessions
The individual sessions provide an opportunity to concentrate on a child’s individual needs and consolidate what has been covered in the group sessions. Within the session you will revise the vocabulary covered and focus on any areas the child had difficulties with as well helping build their story telling skills.
