LanguageScreen Assessment Updates August 2024
See a summary of updates made to LanguageScreen this year, along with a sneak peek of what we’re currently working on and will be available later in 2024

COMING SOON! Use LanguageScreen on any device
Exciting news! LanguageScreen is coming to web browsers later this year and will be compatible with your laptops, Chromebooks, and desktop computers for the first time. If you prefer you will still be able to use the assessment on your iPads or Android tablets too.
We’re also adding LanguageScreen (and ReadingScreen) buttons to student profiles in the OxEd Platform so you’ll be able to launch assessments and see the results all in one place.
COMING SOON! Progress reports
We’re delighted to share a sneak peek for our new progress reports. With these new reports you’ll be able to:
- see how a student’s LanguageScreen scores have changed over time,
- review LanguageScreen progress for the whole class, and
- access aggregated scores in our new Results Dashboard for your class, year group or school, making it easy to see the impact of NELI on their progress.
We’re also going to be adding information throughout the platform to make it easier to see which children in your classes would benefit from NELI.
Contact us if you’d like to join our feedback team and get early access to these reports.

LanguageScreen now available for all ages
Did you know LanguageScreen now adapts to the age of the student and is suitable for children in every year group, from ages 3.5 to 11?
We’re currently working on adding standard scores and written feedback for your older students, so be sure to revisit their assessments to find out how they align with expectations for their age.
Identify possible language and reading difficulties
Have you tried our ReadingScreen assessment or explored our Simple View of Reading report?
The Simple View of Reading says that reading ability involves both language comprehension and word decoding (phonics). OxEd & Assessment provides the tools to measure both of these skills and reveal the reasons why children are struggling to read, so you can target your support more effectively.
When a child is assessed with both LanguageScreen and ReadingScreen the results are automatically plotted on a graph representing the Simple View of Reading to identify the nature and extent of any possible language or reading difficulties. You’ll also get instant feedback and recommendations for individual students as well as an at-a-glance view for an entire class.

If you have any questions about using our assessment apps in your school, or need help getting started with LanguageScreen, contact our Support Team for help.
